Citroen ZX Rally Raid Evo II #11 for sale

The Citroen ZX with chassis number C11 is a truly one-of-a-kind gem in the world of rally raid racing. This beautiful unrestored car has a storied history, having competed in only five desert rallies, while being driven by three Scandinavian Rally World Champions.

The car’s racing career began in 1991 with the Pharaon Rally, where it placed second. The following year, in 1992, the ZX competed in the Rallye Paris le Cap and finished in fourth place, and in the Rallye Paris Moscow Beijing, finishing sixth. These races were driven by the legendary Björn Waldegard.

In 1993, the car was driven by Ari Vatanen in the Rallye Paris Dakar, where it placed eighth. The same year, Timo Salonen drove the ZX to a third-place finish in the Dubai Desert Challenge.

At this point in time, the ZX was powered by the Peugeot 205 Turbo 16 derived 2.0L Group B engine. However, in 1994, Citroen replaced this engine with their new 2.5 L Turbo engine Type XU-15, which delivered an impressive 100 additional horsepower. The factory tested this car with the new engine until 1995, and it remains in this configuration to this day.

After ending its sporting programme with Citroen Sport in 1997, where its last duties were as a development and test car for the technical evolutions and XU 15 engine that would be featured in the 5th and final ZX Rally Raid evolution, this car was stored in the care of Heritage Citroen until 2020 when it was sold to a private collector.

In conclusion, the Citroen ZX with chassis number C11 is a true standout in the world of rally racing, and its unique history and original unrestored condition make it an invaluable addition to any collection.
