Le Mans Prototype LMP2 class is one step below the LMP1 (hypercar) and one above the LMP3. All cars in LMP2 use a bespoke Gibson Techonlogy 4.2liter naturally aspirated V8 engine producing over 540hp, a full carbon-fiber monocoque, carbon brake rotors and a minimum weight of 950kg.
Cars compete in WEC, ELMS and other endurance championships. There are four chassis constructors currently eligible to manufacture a LMP2 car: Dallara, Onroak Automotive (Ligier), Oreca and Riley Tech/Multimatic, however this category previous featured several brands like Alpine, Acura, Lola, Morgan, Porsche, Radical and Zytek.
