This category includes adverts for rally cars for so called R4 - PROTO group build rally cars. The R4 class is for cars competing under Group N regulations for production cars prior to 2013 No new cars will be homologated under Group N regulations.
The FIA created a new R4 Kit class as a replacement for the R4 class. The R4 Kit cars have a standard engine, four-wheel drive powertrain and suspension. In January 2017, French race car manufacturer ORECA was selected as supplier. The kit will cost €85,000 plus taxes, including a 1.6L 260hp 380Nm turbo engine with 5 speed sequential gearbox and includes modification parts in chassis, engine, transmission, front axle, rear axle, brakes & fuel system in comparison with old N4.
Group R4 rally cars are old N4 4WD 2.0 litre turbo with about 280 hp of power and minimum weight 1300kg rally cars modified with R4 kit package like Mitsubishi Lancer EVO 8, EVO 9, EVO X or Subaru Impreza WRX STI. But also R4 rally category is made for new version of rally cars like PROTO with 1.6 litre turbo engine 265hp 380Nm engines with minimum weight 1230kg. This new R4 - PROTO rally car is fully compliant with the FIA’s safety specifications and has a performance level set below that of an R5 car.
