This category features adverts for historic rally cars, including the legendary Group B machines. boost. As a result, power outputs doubled from around 250 hp to more than 500 hp by 1986.
The combination of extreme power and lightweight chassis created spectacular, high-speed rallies that drew enormous crowds. However, the lack of crowd control and the incredible performance of the cars also led to several fatal accidents, most notably the 1986 Tour de Corse crash that claimed the lives of Henri Toivonen and Sergio Cresto in a Lancia Delta S4. Following this tragedy, Group B was immediately banned, and Group A became the standard until the introduction of modern WRC regulations in 1997.
Some of the most iconic and sought-after Group B rally cars include Audi Quattro A1, A2, and S1, Lancia 037 and Delta S4, Renault 5 Maxi Turbo, MG Metro 6R4, and Ford RS200. Historic rally cars from earlier eras are also listed here for collectors and enthusiasts.
